Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda demanded that Russia return Crimea to Ukraine and end the war in the Donbas. He listed the conditions for the resumption of dialogue with the European Union (EU) in his article in Die Zeit. Among such demands, he also included the withdrawal of troops from Abkhazia and South Ossetia, the release of political prisoners and the permission of independent media activities in Russia. Nauseda noted that "Russia respects only strong partners," so he demanded that the EU tell Moscow the conditions for continuing cooperation. At the same time, he said that the EU now faces a choice between a market "from Lisbon to Vladivostok" and "a garden that a thirteen-year-old refugee still dreams of". Earlier, Nauseda accused Russia of plans to "absorb" Belarus. In his opinion, Moscow uses the situation around the republic in its own interests. He also called on NATO countries to respond to the "dangerous geopolitical process"unfolding near the borders of the European Union. In March, the President of Lithuania, during a speech in the Verkhovna Rada, advised Ukraine to abandon the purchase of electricity in Russia to strengthen "energy independence". He welcomed the desire of Ukraine to follow this path and synchronize with the European electric networks.
